Customer Service Specialist – Medical Equipment Services? Location: Fully On-Site – Face-to-Face Customer Service? Core Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)? On-Call Rotation: Once every 6 weeks (Saturday & Sunday, 9 AM–9 PM) | Once hired direct About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Customer Service Specialist to join our team in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. This role involves direct interaction with patients, physicians, and insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medical equipment and services.Key ResponsibilitiesHandle inbound and outbound calls with professionalism and empathyCreate and manage patient orders based on physician referralsEducate patients on financial responsibilities and insurance coverageVerify insurance eligibility, co-pays, deductibles, and obtain pre-authorizationsNavigate multiple EMR systems to retrieve and input documentationMaintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company proceduresCommunicate effectively with internal teams regarding insurance trends and patient needsResolve customer concerns and provide solutions with compassionMeet performance metrics including quality assurance and responsivenessRequired SkillsStrong customer service and communication skillsFamiliarity with medical insurance processesUnderstanding of medical terminology and durable medical equipmentAbility to manage multiple systems and tasks efficientlyExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsPatience and empathy, especially when working with elderly patientsConflict resolution and de-escalation abilitiesPreferred QualificationsExperience in a medical or clinical settingKnowledge of HIPAA regulationsBackground in respiratory therapy or currently pursuing a related degreeExperience with EPIC or BrightTree softwarePay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
