Position/Dept Summary: Boston Childrens Hospital Trust is the philanthropic resource for the hospital which provides vital funds to support our cutting-edge research, community outreach, patient family programs and medical education.The Development Assistant, Principal & Major Gifts, will serve a vital supportive role in helping to achieve the fundraising goals set by the Trust. Working with Principal & Major Gift teams, the Development Assistant will partner with colleagues to operate efficiently in its efforts to raise philanthropic support for the hospitals mission. This role will also have a unique career development opportunity to gain experience in fundraising at a large and highly impactful organization. Key Responsibilities:Maintain meeting calendar of supervisor and schedule internal and external appointments and meetings with donors, doctors, volunteers, trustees, and hospital staff. Reserve and prepare conference rooms and order refreshments for meetings and donor visitsOrganize donor visits and may also attend when appropriateCoordinate travel for Trust staff, including tracking of donor visits and expense reportingAssist in developing materials for use in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospectsMaintain constituent information in donor database including biographical information, Trust codes, solicitor actions and proposal informationProvide general office support including answering phones, greeting and directing guests, and providing other basic administrative help as necessaryPrepare invoices for the department including payment requisitions for vendors, employee reimbursements and serves as contact to resolve discrepancies. May reconcile monthly bills with overall budgetOrganize events including: developing and managing invitation lists, attendance, room space, refreshments and staffing the eventAssist supervisor with special projects and preparation of reports and documents as neededDevelop proficiency in donor database, with the ability to run basic reports and queriesMay serve as resource and provide training to other administrative staffEducation: & Requirements: Min of an Associates Degree and 4 years of fundraising related work experience is required. Bachelors degree preferred and would replace the experience requirementOne (1) additional year of development, marketing, events or customer service experience preferredQualifications:Ability to develop strong relationships with others and fosters a positive organization and brand imageDemonstrates good critical thinking skillsStrong communication (written and verbal) skillsAbility to proactively problem solve and recommend process improvementsStrong time management skills and attention to detail. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint); Ability to work with data and databasesThe posted pay range is Boston Childrens reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
