In the caregiver role, the RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.Responsibilities: Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans. Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans. Documents in patient’s chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient/significant other and family rights, as identified by Samaritan Healthcare regardless of race, age, religion, color, creed, sex, national origin, or any other classification protected by law; and regardless of ability to pay. Demonstrates appropriate delegation of patient care activities and functions effectively to supervise assigned coworkers. May be required to function as a Charge Nurse to include delegation of patient assignment/re-assignment; assists/informs with admits, discharges, and transfers; coordinates staff coverage for breaks; helps staff problem-solve; serves as a lead for the unit.Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current Washington State RN Licensure. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire, AHA or equivalent. Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred. Minimum one year of RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments. AAP NRP Advanced (American Academy of Pediatrics, Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is required for all RN’s working in MBU prior to the end of orientation and renewed every 2 years. ACLS (AHA Advanced Life Support) certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years. AWHONN’s Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course for all L&D RNs is required and must be obtained within 3 months of completing L&D training and renewed every 2 years. Electronic Fetal Monitoring from NCC is also acceptable.
