The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applications for an accomplished leader to serve as Chief of Clinical Pathology for Temple University Health System (TUHS) and Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories for Temple University Hospital Health Sciences Campus and TUH Jeanes Campus. About the Clinical Laboratories • 2.5M+ tests annually with significant complexity and diversity. • Ten subspecialty divisions led by experienced MD/PhD scientists, including Hematology, Special Coagulation, Molecular Diagnostics, Transfusion Medicine, Immunogenetics, Microbiology, Chemistry, and more. • Advanced capabilities including high-throughput molecular platforms, next generation sequencing, MALDI TOF, and fully automated chemistry technologies. Key Responsibilities • Provide systemwide leadership and oversight for all areas of clinical pathology. • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance across all TUHS laboratories (JCAHO, CAP, FDA, CMS, OSHA) and lead system wide inspections. • Drive alignment, standardization, and integration across multiple campuses. • Partner with the Chair to establish strategic priorities and capital plans. • Promote a culture of quality, safety, teamwork, and operational excellence. • Support education, training, and professional development within a major academic medical center. Candidate Qualifications • MD, DO, or MD/PhD (or equivalent). • Board Certification in Clinical Pathology. • Academic credentials for appointment at Associate or Full Professor. • 5 years of leadership experience in academic or high complexity laboratories. • Strong preference for expertise in Hematopathology or Transfusion Medicine . • Demonstrated success leading within multi site, matrixed environments. • Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure.
