Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Title: CFO Location: Fully on-site in Wilton, CT Work hours: 8-4pm Salary: $180-200k commensurate with experience Join a community with a proven record of fiscal responsibility and the highest possible credit rating, offering a solid foundation for strategic financial leadership. This CFO position is central to municipal operations, with direct oversight of finance, tax collection, and assessment functions. Work in close partnership with leadership boards and commissions, ensuring your expertise directly informs long-term planning and decision-making. Recent capital improvements and infrastructure projects reflect a forward-looking approach and a commitment to continuous enhancement of public services. The CFO's contributions are both strategic and tangible, with results seen in schools, public services, and quality-of-life initiatives. Responsibilities of CFO: Knowledge of financial administration, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and investing. Knowledge of personnel, payroll, purchasing (including insurance), grant administration, and contract administration. Knowledge of financial reporting and debt issuance. Ability to hire, manage, train, and coach staff. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to analyze and prepare financial/statistical reports and apply municipal financial principles. Knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws, town charter provisions, ordinances, policies, and regulations. Ability to develop effective relationships with staff, officials, non-profits, financial institutions, and auditors. Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and prepare statistical/narrative reports. Ability to perform treasury functions. Experience in accounting, financial reporting, and fiscal/administrative functions. Supervisory and management experience. Ability to work independently with sound judgment. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships across departments. Creative problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience of CFO: At least ten (10) years of municipal accounting experience, including supervision of professional staff. Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related coursework. CPA license preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products. Experience with enterprise systems; Munis experience preferred but not required. Experience in municipal, school, or government accounting and finance a plus. #LI-GW1 #INSEP2025
