Project Accountant

Project Accountant - Construction We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to take on a crucial role in managing the financial health of our construction projects. You will be a key player in our accounting department, with responsibilities that will grow as our project portfolio expands. Key Responsibilities Project-Based Payroll: Manage payroll for our unionized workforce. While payroll volume will be light initially (approximately 1-2 days per week), it will increase with project growth. You will also be responsible for ensuring all new hire paperwork is accurate and complete. Accounts Payable (AP): Assist with our accounts payable process, which is currently less automated. You will be responsible for creating cost blocks and securing manual sign-offs from project teams. While you won't handle daily AP entry, your responsibilities may include some purchase order (PO) work. AP volume will fluctuate based on the number and size of active projects. AIA Billing Support: Work closely with the Project Controller to assist with and provide support for the AIA billing process. General Accounting: Support the finance team with month-end and year-end close procedures, reconciliations, and other general accounting tasks as needed. Qualifications Previous experience in a project accounting or similar role, preferably within the construction industry. Strong understanding of accounting principles and the construction project lifecycle. Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in accounting software. Experience with Workday, JDE, or Procore is a plus, but not a requirement; we are confident that the right candidate can quickly learn our systems.
