This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring access to fair and impartial justice in one of the largest and fastest-growing counties in California. The Role As a Court Commissioner, you will perform judicial and quasi-judicial functions under the authority of the Presiding Judge. In this role, you will: Preside over hearings, arraignments, trials, and other judicial proceedings Act as a Temporary Judge when stipulated by the parties Rule on motions, petitions, and other actions Oversee matters in civil, criminal, family support, juvenile, probate, and small claims cases Prepare findings, orders, and judgments that help move cases toward resolution This at-will appointment provides the opportunity to directly impact the administration of justice, working closely with judges, attorneys, staff, and the public in a dynamic courtroom environment Minimum Qualifications Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California for at least ten (10) years prior to appointment (Applicants with less than ten years may request an exemption under California Rules of Court, Section 10.701(b)) Demonstrated legal experience sufficient to perform the duties of a Court Commissioner Valid California driver's license and the ability to travel to different court locations as required Ideal Candidate We are looking for candidates who demonstrate: Judicial temperament, integrity, and impartiality Strong legal analysis, reasoning, and decision-making skills Commitment to fairness and equal access to justice Ability to manage a busy courtroom calendar effectively Why Join Riverside Superior Court? Step III: Those candidates that are successful in the previous step may be invited to an oral interview.
