My client is a leading nonprofit organization conveniently located in E. Midtown Manhattan, and they are seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a temp to hire basis. The position will report to the Accounting Manager and have tremendous potential for growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger Maintenance: Record daily financial transactions, code invoices, prepare journal entries, and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accurate and timely ledger updates. Month-End and Year-End Closings: Compile account information, make necessary adjustments, and prepare financial statements in accordance with established deadlines. Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory to maintain accurate records and detect errors or fraud. Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, with a strong emphasis on Excel-based analysis and presentation. Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with audit standards. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and track customer receipts, maintaining accurate transaction records. Union Payments Processing: Manage union-related payments in accordance with labor agreements and payroll procedures. Ad Hoc Projects and Analysis: Support special projects and financial analyses as needed to advance departmental and organizational goals. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field a plus not a must 2+ years of accounting experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software Strong analytical and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Excellent attention to detail and time management #INAUG2025
