Engineering Analyst III Contract Duration: Through 09/11/2026 (with potential for extension) Location: Royal Oak, MI Position Summary: CMS Energy is seeking a Senior Engineering Analyst III to support field operations and gas construction activities across southeast Michigan. This role requires expertise in GPS/GIS technology and natural gas distribution systems, with a strong focus on in-field data collection, asset verification, and construction support. This is a fully onsite role (0% remote), and candidates must be available to work four 10-hour shifts per week, with the potential for additional hours on Fridays or Saturdays. Key Responsibilities: Collect as-installed asset data using GPS antennas and GIS software for construction projects. Assist with complex construction field issues, including positional verifications and updates to construction plans. Support integration with operations and engineering teams on large gas main replacement projects. Maintain and update documentation for integrated systems, including GIS/GPS hardware and software. Attend meetings such as project reviews, technology demonstrations, and pre-construction briefings. Travel to various job sites across lower Michigan as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Technical Skills & Experience: Experience with GIS software , particularly ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps . Familiarity with GPS antenna hardware and software , surveying control practices , and natural gas distribution systems . Strong understanding of construction safety practices , construction plan reading , and regulatory requirements . Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in field environments. Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following: Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of related experience, Associate degree with at least 6 years of experience, or High School Diploma with 10 years of applicable experience. Additional qualifications: Utility Locator Experience preferred. Must have or obtain an OSHA 10-hour Construction Certification (MIOSHA Part 10 compliant). Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across the state. Required Safety & Technical Training: Excavation Safety (Ladder Safety) CPR / First Aid Traffic Control Tools & Equipment: Candidates must be capable of handling field equipment, including: Ladders, GPS antennas, iPads, laptops, rod extensions, spray paint, and PPE. Operation of company vehicles at construction sites (both on and off-road). Location Notes: Candidates must reside in Southeast Michigan or be willing to relocate at their own expense . The assigned work location will be based on proximity to active construction projects. No per diem or relocation assistance will be provided. Important Notes: Onsite presence required from Day 1 . No remote work or hybrid flexibility. Candidate location will influence travel expectations.
