Position Details: Title: Entomology Laboratory Technician Position Type: 1 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need Job Location : Indianapolis, IN Shift: (Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM) Benefits : 401K, Dental insurance, Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Vision Insurance Compensation: $20/HR Role Overview We are seeking a motivated individual to support entomology research in laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary environments. The position involves working with insects, nematodes, and plant material, performing routine assays, and maintaining a safe and organized lab environment. Candidates must be comfortable standing for long periods, handling insects, and working with chemical sprays. Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and SOPs will be provided. Key Responsibilities Prepare, maintain, and infest plant and artificial diet material with non-hazardous insect species. Perform routine assay formulation using pipettes and apply assays using hand and track sprayers. Prepare media used in entomology testing. Clip and thin plants used in experiments. Grade insect assays and provide accurate documentation. Assist evaluators by scribing results. Maintain laboratory spaces, including cleaning, restocking, and waste management. Requirements Education: BS in Biology, Entomology, or related field preferred (recent graduates welcome). Experience: Prior laboratory experience preferred; any previous work experience required. Technical Skills: Knowledge of entomology and/or nematology; ability to follow lab protocols and safety procedures. Soft Skills: Strong communication, time management, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Safety & Compliance: Must follow Corteva EH&S standards, use PPE, and adhere to all safety protocols. Medical & Safety Requirements Must be able to wear a PAPR; medical clearance, pulmonary function testing, and cholinesterase evaluation required (completed during onboarding).
