Medical Coder Level 2 - Government Facility (Columbus, OH) Long-Term Contract with A-Line Staffing Pay: $21-$22/hr A-Line Staffing is seeking an experienced Medical Coder Level 2 to support a government facility in Columbus, OH . This is a long-term contract opportunity. Candidates must be local to Columbus, OH . Position Overview Under general direction, the Medical Coder Level 2 will assist in monitoring and analyzing policies and procedures to organize and implement an accurate and efficient ICD policy and system support program. This role serves as a medical policy resource, analyst, and technical expert advisor for ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems. The coder will incorporate relevant guidelines on a statewide basis, support reporting accuracy, and collaborate with the ICD program manager to resolve discrepancies. Responsibilities Ensure accurate usage and assignment of ICD codes within agency systems. Serve as a technical expert on ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding and policy application. Analyze ICD reports and support compliance with regulations and policies. Collaborate with leadership and staff to resolve coding discrepancies. Maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency in all coding practices. Contribute to development and improvement of coding-related policies, procedures, and guidelines. Prepare reports, conduct data analysis, and support outcome measurement activities. Required Qualifications 3-4 years of coding experience in a healthcare setting. Education/Certification: RHIA, RHIT degree, or certification such as CCS, CCS-P, or CPC. Active membership and participation with AAPC or AHIMA . Strong knowledge of: ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnostic codes, CPT, and HCPCS. Anatomy, physiology, and coding theory. Healthcare delivery systems and claims processing. Federal and state healthcare laws, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and agency-specific software. Excellent written, oral communication, and project management skills. Preferred Skills Experience with healthcare information systems and database management. Strong analytical skills in statistical and process analysis. Ability to draft and edit administrative policies and procedures. Skilled in data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
