Machine Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate and monitor a variety of machine shop equipment, including horizontal band saw, vertical band saw, and CNC milling machine. Identify raw materials and cut to print using the horizontal band saw. Follow engineering drawings and verbal/written instructions to produce accurate parts. Perform in-process checks using measuring tools to ensure part quality. Work to established production and quality standards. Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all Health & Safety policies, quality procedures, and work instructions. Communicate issues related to production, tooling, or equipment to the Lead Hand or Management. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Grade 12 or equivalent. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings is preferred. Familiarity with standard measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges). Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment. Experience with horizontal band saws and CNC machines is an asset. Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge: Capable of safely operating machine shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motors (training available). Able to complete quality checks to verify accuracy against engineering specs. Comfortable working independently and following clear instructions. Willingness to learn machine setups, tool changes, and basic troubleshooting over time.
