Overview Head of People Development at Carta. You will restart Carta's People Development engine with AI at the core of how we learn and grow, defining and driving the strategy for learning and development with speed, creativity, and a focus on team-based learning experiences. The Team You'll Work With This is a senior Individual Contributor (IC) role within Carta's People Team, reporting to the VP of Talent Acquisition. You will be the principal architect of this function, with autonomy to define our learning philosophy, architecture, and long-term strategy. You'll partner with Talent, HR, People Ops, and Total Rewards, and work with leaders across the business to create nimble, relevant development programs aligned with how we grow, collaborate, and lead at Carta. What You'll Do Develop Carta's AI enablement roadmap: identify critical AI-enabled capabilities and design learning experiences to build confidence, competence, and curiosity across the organization Retool managers for the future by designing AI-informed learning journeys to help managers grow with their teams in a fast-changing environment Build and design development strategies across the employee lifecycle"”onboarding, role transitions, performance conversations, promotions, and leadership readiness Partner with technical, business, and executive teams to identify skill gaps and opportunities for capability-building Co-create career development frameworks with HRBPs, empowering Cartans with clarity and ownership over their path Select and implement learning platforms or tools, prioritizing AI-enabled or adaptive learning for scalable, personalized delivery Establish feedback loops and success metrics to measure participation, learning transfer, and impact Create learning programs that emphasize real-time enablement over generic content, driven by live team needs and experimentation Move fast and be scrappy"”prioritizing high-impact, nimble solutions to meet business and people needs Cultivate a culture of continuous learning through team-based collaboration, peer coaching, internal knowledge-sharing, and talent enablement systems Act as a thought partner on how learning, feedback, performance, and employee experience intersect, co-designing with the business Qualifications 10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, People Development, Organizational Design, or related fields Proven success designing and scaling learning strategies for fast-growing, high-performing teams Strong perspective on how AI is transforming the workplace and an ambition to help people work effectively in an AI-enabled world Mastery in program design, stakeholder management, and internal consulting"”especially with technical functions and senior leaders Comfort building new initiatives in ambiguous environments with strong project management and an ownership mindset Coaching-oriented facilitation, team development, and building a feedback culture Experience selecting, launching, and managing L&D tools or platforms, especially those leveraging AI or behavioral data Passion for inclusive, accessible, and actionable learning Bonus: Coaching certification or experience with facilitation frameworks and assessments like DiSC, Hogan, or CliftonStrengths About Carta and Culture At Carta, you're a builder creating infrastructure that accelerates innovation and ownership. Salary & Benefits Carta's compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for full-time roles, exceptional benefits, and, where applicable, incentive plans. The minimum cash compensation for this role is $172,000 - $215,000 (New York and San Francisco). Final offers may vary based on geography, experience, and other factors.
