About the Client Integrations Engineering Team The Client Integrations team acts as a bridge, ensuring that Starburst's customers can use the Trino Query Engine to enable them to see the invisible and achieve the impossible with their data. Key responsibilities include: Creating and supporting client drivers that allow connectivity to Starburst's Query Engine Developing and advancing the ODBC driver by leveraging the Trino Spooling Protocol to improve query throughput Integrating with business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools to ensure Starburst works well with popular BI and analytics platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, and dbt About the role We are seeking an Engineering leader to help scale our growing engineering team. You will build and lead the team responsible for developing the client integrations with our products. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Data Engineering space and a track record of building teams and cultures that create competitive advantage. As Engineering Manager, you will partner with Engineering and Product Leadership to deliver and execute on roadmap deliverables. You will support and mentor a dynamic, global team while emphasizing quality at every stage of the product. As an Engineering Manager at Starburst you will : Lead and grow a team of engineers, enabling self-organization and sustained velocity and predictability Manage and motivate a team focused on various aspects of Starburst Galaxy and Starburst Enterprise Demonstrate enthusiastic engagement in the Engineering space your team owns; perform exploratory testing and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement Drive technical direction and provide leadership in an agile environment Partner with other engineering leaders to define best practices and build cutting-edge software Work with leaders from Product, Marketing and Analytics to iterate on design and architecture Coach and mentor engineers at all levels Recruit, interview, hire and onboard new engineers What we look for At least 3 years of engineering management experience with a total of 8+ years in software engineering Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience leading partial- or fully-remote teams across multiple time zones Passion for building diverse and high-performing teams Strong interest in software engineering and the full agile lifecycle Strong collaboration across teams and stakeholders Good understanding of SQL databases Hands-on experience in Data Engineering (ODBC, Python ecosystem, BI tools, Spark) Proven engineering practices and software craftsmanship Track record of shipping features and meeting deadlines Ability to work with multiple programming languages Experience with Open Source Software Some work with the Trino Open Source Project; some client integrations are open source Ability to Travel : Occasional in-person travel for onboarding, team offsites, customer engagements, and events Why build your career at Starburst?
