Who we are looking for Purpose The Executive Medical Science Liaison has primary responsibility for building key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships by engaging in scientific data exchange with external stakeholders in the assigned Therapeutic Areas (TAs) - Respiratory (COPD/Asthma) across the aligned geography. Responsibilities include establishing educational and research collaborations, delivering clinical, scientific and technical education, and developing long-term peer-to-peer relationships by listening to customer needs and incorporating their insights into the organization. Candidates should live in/near any of the following cities : Seattle, Spokane or Boise; other Northwestern US locations may be considered. Main Responsibilities Scientific Exchange, advice seeking and clinical development support Build external partnerships with recognized community and academic medical center KOLs to identify scientific needs and stay informed on current trends in the assigned Therapeutic Area. Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research and publication opportunities. Cultivate existing and new KOL relationships for advisory boards, company-sponsored and investigator-initiated research, and speaker development. Provide KOL perspectives to field managers and the team to elevate within the organization. Identify opportunities and provide medical support including scientific education to HCPs at key institutions. Foster professional relationships in key institutions within the assigned geography. Recognize opportunities to facilitate cross-functional engagement based on customer needs. Identify and characterize needs related to real-world evidence in the therapeutic area. Represent Chiesi USA Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local scientific meetings. Provide field-based medical affairs support for clinical research initiatives as applicable to Investigator projects. Initiated trials or collaborative initiatives Deliver high-caliber medical education presentations in various settings. Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in line with Company policies. Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups. Plan with business partners in the region to ensure alignment and optimize customer experience. Therapeutic Support, Internal Collaboration and Project Work Lead and support internal medical projects aligned to the development plan. Support cross-functional projects and integrate medical input. Contribute to publication planning, clinical research, medical education material development and internal training. Contribute to monthly medical meetings including journal clubs and team meetings. Mentor and onboard new team members. Administrative Work Maintain accurate documentation of field activities, expenses, and reports. Complete required training on time and pass assessments. Maintain high level of expertise and professional licensing/certifications as required. Experience Required Post-graduate residency and 7-10 years of MSL experience related to Respiratory Therapeutic Area; PhD candidates with requisite experience may be considered. Prior launch experience in Asthma/COPD strongly preferred. Builds and leverages strategic relationships to identify opportunities and improve provider/patient care. Works effectively on diverse, multi-disciplinary teams with a team-first approach. Demonstrates discipline, resilience, planning and ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment. Strong self-awareness, growth mindset, flexibility and positive attitude in challenging situations. Scientific and clinical expertise in the therapeutic area with knowledge of pharmacoeconomics and real-world evidence. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex ideas clearly to various audiences. Ability to challenge KOLs and HCPs tactfully while maintaining evidence-based positions. Active listening and curiosity to understand others' points of view; ask insightful questions. Diplomacy and strong internal/external stakeholder relationships and professional communications. Thorough knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and hospital credentialing processes, including credentialing and drug testing requirements. Education Completion of a graduate-level degree (PharmD, MD, DO, DNP, PhD, MSN, MS or equivalent) along with relevant clinical experience. Compensation Data The annual base pay for this position ranges from $180,000 to $230,000. Overtime pay may apply for qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary based on factors including location, knowledge, skills and experience. This is an at-will position and the Company may modify base pay and other compensation programs at any time.
