Legal Assistant Location: Melville, NY Pay: $48,000-57,000 base salary Will work in the Negotiation Department A Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Law Firm is seeking a qualified legal assistant! The ideal candidate will ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management by providing legal services under the supervision of an attorney. This individual will communicate frequently with the clients in order to serve them adequately. Additionally, this candidate will conduct necessary case research to aid the legal proceedings. Monday-Friday (No Weekends) Hours: Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm Friday 9am-5pm OR Monday-Wednesday 10am-6pm, Thursday 11-7 and Friday 9-5pm The firm is committed to working closely with their clients to deliver services that best fit their needs. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Excellent written and verbal communication skills ??? ability to draft professional correspondence, reports, and legal documents Strong customer service abilities ??? maintain a courteous and helpful attitude when interacting with clients, legal professionals, and staff Highly organized and detail-oriented ??? ensures accuracy in document preparation, scheduling, and data entry Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment ??? manage competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and multiple assignments efficiently Self-motivated and able to work independently ??? demonstrates initiative and reliability with minimal supervision Collaborative team player ??? works effectively with attorneys, staff, and external contacts to meet common goals Provide administrative support to lawyer ??? including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and handling confidential information Prepare and format legal documents ??? such as briefs, pleadings, and contracts File management ??? organize and maintain both electronic and physical legal files Conduct basic legal research and gather case-related materials as needed Handle incoming and outgoing communications ??? including emails, phone calls, and mail Track deadlines and court dates using case management software or calendars Assist with billing and timekeeping tasks Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Qualifications include: Bachelors degree or paralegal studies preferred Strong work experience in the legal field Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols Benefits Medical Dental Vision 401K 17 days (PTO, sick time)
