Foreperson - Container Trees Production

Department: Container Trees Reports To:  Container Production Manager FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt Position Summary: The Foreperson Container Tree Production is responsible for directing and supervising container tree department employees and crews while completing activities related to container tree production. This role reports to the Container Production Manager, and works closely with the other container forepersons, assistant forepersons, crew leaders, and nursery workers in the department to achieve production goals while maintaining Bailey quality standards and safety compliance. In addition, this position will work closely with plant health, inventory, shop, propagation, bareroot production/storage, and office staff. What we offer: Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision, life insurance) 401(k) matching Paid time off and paid holidays Employee assistance program Employee discount Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the production manager in all aspects of container tree production, which includes but is not limited to: Developing and executing container tree production plans on a daily, weekly, and seasonal basis. Train department employees in production activities and the quality standards required. Tracking the progress of production activities throughout the year and keep records to ensure that production cycles are completed on time with the goal of maximizing ship through of product. Work with Field Production, Inventory, Sales, and Planning & Administration to build production cards with proper liner type and ready dates for all container tree programs. Keep track of supplies, equipment, and tools needed to complete production activities as needed throughout the year. Required Qualifications: Experience in container tree production Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and learn Bailey Nurseries software. Ability to train, lead, and develop others. Work overtime as needed. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. PPE may be required in certain work areas.
