Job Summary and Qualifications Electrophysiology technologist demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients served. The EP technologist is able to scrub/assist the physician with scrubbing/assisting during diagnostic/interventional electrophysiology studies and during pacemaker/ICD implantations. What You Will Do in This Role Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions Assesses, plans, implements patient procedure care Reacts accordingly to emergency situations Scrubs/assists physicians with diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures Scrubs/assists physicians with insertion/removal of devices such as pacemakers and ICDs Communicates pre/post procedure education to the patient/family Active participation in precepting new employees and shares knowledge with peers Active participation in mandatory departmental continuous quality improvement Provides hemodynamic monitoring assistance during procedures Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments Maintain necessary knowledge to perform daily duties in procedure area by furthering education as needed Supports the facility's Standards of Performance and ICARE values What Qualifications You Will Need Candidates must have one of the following qualifications: A current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). A current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and be licensed through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)]. New and existing staff with eight years of procedure experience may be considered, but they must complete an advanced registration/certification (RCIS or RCES from CCI) or obtain their Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)] license within one year of hire. Additional requirements: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). Current ACLS certification from the AHA or completion within six months of hire. Strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees. A minimum of one year of experience in an EP or cath lab.
