Only an hour away is Branson that includes many shows to see, Silver Dollar City and shopping!About the Department:Our Nurse Apprenticeship allows nursing students the amazing opportunity to work and gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas that CMH has to offer (LTC, Hospital, Home Care/Hospice, and Clinics). Nurse Apprentices are CMH employees and will be compensated for their clinical time as they work to complete their nursing program, in exchange for a 1 year work commitment upon successful graduation!A typical day includes:Working under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN.Assisting with patient care duties as outlined belowMust be able to perform specific nursing skills as outlined belowMust have successful completion of the skills checkoff portion of their school curriculum.Once deemed competent through additional demonstration of skill by CMH employed RN/LPN, may independently perform.Assists with patient assessment by collecting patient dataAssists with or performs patient activities of daily livingPerforms linen changes as required and per routineResponding promptly to patient/staff requests for assistanceAssist with labeling/transport of specimensAssures patient comfort measures are met by performing rounds and anticipating needsDocuments in patient record in a timely, accurate and concise mannerNotifies licensed personnel promptly of any change in patient status or conditionPerforms admit/discharge procedures per routine in accurate and timely mannerAssists with the management of patient's personal belongingsAs a Nurse Apprentice you will have the opportunity to acquire a number of skills:IVs: insertion and removalPort access: insertion and removalUrinary Catheter: maintenance, insertion and removalGastric Tubes: maintenance, irrigation, administration of feeding, removalDressing changes: assist RN/LPN, independently perform basic dressing changes to include wet to dry and clean dressing (no medication administration) removal of sutures, staples and surgical drainsHygiene and skill care: implements and participates in methods to prevent skin breakdownTracheostomy/Vent care: maintenance, to include suctioning, inner cannula change (trach only) and securement device changeBlood glucose monitoringSpecimen collection: nasal, NP and throat swabs, blood, urine, stoolSecond verifier for Blood ProductsIn clinic setting: rooming, medication reconciliation, EKG, ear lavage, wound care and assisting with procedures as directed.RequirementsWork 12 hours per month (not to include clinical time) can be separated into 4, 6 or 12 hour blocksRemain current on BLS certificationComplete employee quarterly Healthstream assignmentsComplete SAFE training within 1 yearThe position is PRNBenefits include:Competitive wagesAnnual merit increasesNo cost health insurance option for employeeFull suite of insurance benefits available for employee and familyEarly access to pay with on-demand PayActiv ProgramEmployee Assistance ProgramPaid time offIncreased Company Matched Retirement PlanCompany paid long term disability planConnect with us!
