_*SOX Senior Accounting Analyst*__*- HYBRID (Portland, OR)*_Our client, a leading energy provider with a strong community focus, is seeking a *SOX Senior Accounting Analyst* to join its high-impact compliance team on a contract basis in *Portland, OR*. This newly created role supports the *integration of recently acquired water-related entities into the SOX compliance program*, targeting Q3 and Q4 sign-offs. The position involves *building internal controls, conducting risk assessments, mapping processes, and developing documentation* from the ground up. While not IT-focused, it requires a solid understanding of *automated controls in ERP systems*, particularly *SAP;* experience with CUSI is a plus. Reporting to the *SOX Compliance* Lead, the analyst will collaborate cross-functionally to design and refine internal control frameworks that ensure SOX readiness. Key responsibilities include *drafting narratives and flowcharts*, *identifying control gaps, and driving process improvements*. This is a hands-on, strategic role suited for a compliance professional with strong experience in *SOX, risk mitigation, and documentation*, who thrives in fast-paced environments and is eager to shape compliance across newly regulated entities.* *Location: *Portland, OR 97204 (Hybrid: 2-3 days/week onsite)* *Schedule: *Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week* *Duration: *6+ Months (Contract)* *Travel: *Up to 10% (WA, TX, AZ)* *Pay Range*: $70.00 - $74.50/hr. DOE.*Key Responsibilities for SOX Senior Accounting Analyst:** Lead SOX integration efforts for newly acquired water utilities and other entities.* Support compliance planning for anticipated acquisitions, including a new energy program in Texas.* Collaborate with the Business Transformation Office to streamline and centralize operational and billing processes.* Design, document, and implement internal controls, including process narratives, flowcharts, risk/control matrices, and SOPs.* Identify compliance gaps and control weaknesses; provide actionable recommendations for mitigation.* Conduct and support walkthroughs with internal and external auditors.* Create processes, documentation standards and testing requirements.* Travel to sites in WA, TX, and AZ to support SOX readiness.* Serve as a liaison across departments to ensure alignment with SOX standards.* Actively contributes to broader business transformation and risk management initiatives.*Qualifications for SOX Senior Accounting Analyst:** Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA preferred.* 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or audit, with public accounting experience required.* Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.* Experience designing and testing internal controls.* Demonstrated ability to create process documentation (narratives, flowcharts, risk/control mapping).* Prior exposure to SAP and MS Office (Excel proficiency required); Visio experience preferred.* Experience with AuditBoard or similar compliance software highly preferred.* Familiarity with CUSI is a plus.* Strong risk assessment and mitigation background.* Politically savvy with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive change._*We are unable to accommodate corp. to corp. candidates*_*About Motus Recruiting and Staffing, Inc:*Founded in 2006, Motus is an award-winning recruiting and staffing firm in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in professional services and technology solutions.
