Our goal is to keep our seniors happy and healthy at home surrounded by their family and community.As a private, non-profit 501(C) (3) community health organization, we serve over 500k medical, dental, and behavioral health visits from more than 90k people annually. With two PACE centers located in Riverside County, our PACE program is positioned to serve over 650 senior participants.ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSEThe Occupational Therapy Assistant will implement occupational therapy programs and provide occupational therapy treatments to participants to help facilitate increased independence and functioning. This role will adhere to departmental, professional, and regulatory standards of care.RESPONSIBILITIESProvides individualized occupational therapy interventions, including application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as, cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual awareness, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalitiesProvides effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services, follows an established plan of care, and adheres to departmental/participant schedulesWorks with members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with participant needs and capabilitiesInstructs participants, family members, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational TherapistImplements the participant's individualized treatment plan as established by the Occupational Therapist, rehabilitation team, and Interdisciplinary Team membersEnsures participants and families receive the high-quality servicesPrepares and monitors safety in case of emergency and attends to good body mechanicsCleans, maintains, identifies, and reports equipment repair needs, as neededCompletes documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely mannerComplies with safety policies and procedures, identifying and immediately reporting any potential or actual unsafe acts or conditions to managementEnsure a safe environment for oneself, co-workers, contractors, participants, visitors, and othersAttends and participates in workshops and seminars to keep abreast of current changes in the occupational therapy field and to maintain a professional statusSeeks better ways for delivering services and communicating with participants while demonstrating proficiency in delivering age-specific careDemonstrates respect for and promotes participant rights, including dignity, self-determination, access to care, confidentiality, and independenceParticipates in activities that link Neighborhood Healthcare to its communitiesCollaborates with staff, peers, and contractors to meet Neighborhood Healthcare PACE goalsComplies with all Neighborhood Healthcare policy and proceduresEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEGraduated from an American Occupational Therapy Association accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program requiredValid CA Occupational Therapist Assistant License requiredValid BLS certification from approved American Health Association provider required upon hireOne year experience of providing and coordinating occupations therapy assistant services to for a frail or elderly population requiredADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formKnowledgeable about and experience with occupational therapy necessary to treat participants and manage complex problemsAbility to provide care for frail elderlyAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent planning and organizational abilityAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift/carry 20 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of timeNeighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans.
