Your ImpactThe Assistant General Manager, under direction of the Regional General Manager, manages daily operations in a million+ square foot distribution center. This includes responsibility for the performance of a team of Operations Managers along with execution of all operational functions in the facility, including: (1) developing and executing daily and weekly operational plans; (2) meeting and exceeding customer service requirements; (3) maximizing quality, throughput, and productivity of the facility; (4) managing a diverse and talented associate population; (5) nurturing a positive (associate relations), focused, safe and productive work environment; and (6) ensuring all corporate policies and procedures are followed consistently and short and long term plans are implemented.What You Will DoExecutes daily production plans that meet or exceed customer service level expectations while achieving maximum operating efficiency in a safe mannerDevelops and implements short and long-range staffing plans based on productivity objectives and forecasted volume requirementsEnsures or leads daily balancing of labor availability and volume requirements throughout the facilityEnsures all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed, and that equipment and work areas are neat, clean and well organizedEnsures daily inspection of physical condition of distribution center and equipment and directs needed maintenance and/or repairDevelops, analyzes, and recommends operational and systemic improvements to meet current and future service, throughput, and cost objectivesAssists associates with HR related issues including questions/concerns with attendance, pay, benefits, job changes, voluntary terminations, I-9 verification, unemployment claims, and workplace accommodationsRecruits, hires, trains, develops, and retains effective shift management teamsIn conjunction with HR, develops, implements, and measures effectiveness of associate training programsSets goals and communicates clear expectations for managers, and provides timely and constructive feedbackProvides the resources and support needed for successful and safe facility operationsCommunicates effectively with managers and associates regarding business objectives or current issuesProvides management team members with meaningful developmental opportunities and prepares them for upward promotion if interestedSponsors and helps lead the entire facility through changeThis position manages/supervises peopleMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree Business, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field) and 5-7 Years Distribution operations experience in a large volume, automated distribution center environment3-5 Years Leadership experience with direct report responsibilityProven record of complying with safety requirements, and experience building a culture of safety among subordinates and peersPreferred Skills/EducationBachelor's Degree Business, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related fieldExperience recruiting, developing, and retaining an effective management teamExperience creating and managing a budgetExperience identifying and resolving significant process improvement opportunitiesAbout Lowe’sLowe’s Companies, Inc.
