Responsibilities/Job Description:Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at Woodwinds Hospital located in Woodbury, MN.This position is eligible for a $4,500 sign-on bonus and up to a $5,000 relocation bonus!As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room.Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the evening shift. This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend.About our Birth Center at Woodwinds:Our Surgical Technologists will also complete Nursing Assistant tasks such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, passing food and water, and cleaning equipment / rooms.Our Birth Center has 24 beds with 16 delivery rooms, 1 OR, and 8 post-partum rooms (which are also used for med-surg).Woodwinds is located on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury, MN, it’s the only hospital in the southeast metro area.Woodwinds is unique as our nurses practice a multidisciplinary model of care, recognizing the importance of body, mind and spirit in the healing process.Integrative therapies are crafted to improve, not replace, traditional therapeutic measures such as pain medication, exercise and therapy.We are looking for a new team member who is a team player, compassionate, open communicator, collaborator, flexible, open to learning new things, and comfortable in taking part in patient care such as vital signs and PCA work as needed. Come join our team today!Free Parking!As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.Following appropriate action in emergency situations.Required Qualifications:Complete one of the following by hire date:Military Surgical Assistant; ORLPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; ORSurgical Technologist trainingBasic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)Preferred Qualifications:Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist programAST certification or certification eligible at time of hire1 to 3 years surgical tech experienceOther Required Skills:Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.Desired Skills:Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.Ability to work well under a team environment.
