Lab Processing Assistant

#Allied*Job Summary:*The Laboratory Support Technician performs essential pre-analytical functions, including specimen processing, order entry, and equipment operation in support of diagnostic laboratory testing. This role ensures accurate specimen identification, resolves specimen-related issues, and communicates effectively with healthcare professionals. The technician may also be responsible for reagent preparation, supply inventory management, and staff training. This position plays a critical role in maintaining laboratory efficiency and supporting quality patient care.*Key Responsibilities:** Perform pre-analytic specimen processing and verification of patient identification.* Enter test orders and relevant information into the laboratory information system.* Operate laboratory and office equipment, including automated systems.* Respond to a high volume of phone inquiries regarding laboratory testing and procedures.* Resolve specimen-related issues in compliance with laboratory protocols.* Prepare complex reagents and maintain supply inventory within the work unit.* Provide training and mentorship to new team members or rotating staff.* Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.* Adapt to changing schedules including off-shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.*Special Requirements:** Ability to accurately read specimen labels and numerical data to prevent mislabeling.* Excellent organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.* Familiarity with laboratory information systems, computers, and office equipment.* Previous experience in clinical laboratory settings or related healthcare environments.Job Type: ContractPay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Flexible schedule* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Retirement plan* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceSchedule:* Day shiftApplication Question(s):* Do you have (2) years of clinical laboratory or relevant experience ?* Do you have Associate's degree in a health or science-related field ?* Do you have Familiarity with laboratory information systems, computers, and office equipment ?Work Location: In person
