You connect with the overnight staff to review the shift report and ensure a smooth transition. Then, it’s all about getting the kids ready for the day—coordinating school drop-offs, therapy appointments, or medical visits. You make sure medications have been administered and logged correctly, verify transportation arrangements, and double-check that the whiteboard reflects the day’s schedule and meal plan.Mid-Morning - Once the house has quieted down, you dive into operational responsibilities. You review and follow up on any incident reports from the prior day and monitor staff documentation to ensure compliance with agency expectations.Afternoon - Your focus shifts to supervision and support. You’re reviewing staff schedules, checking time-off requests, and providing coaching to your team of Direct Care Specialists. If someone calls out unexpectedly, you coordinate coverage with the Program Manager (your supervisor) and may step in yourself—whether that’s overseeing the house or helping with transportation—to ensure youth remain supported and staff feel backed up.Throughout the Day - You serve as the central point of contact for all things happening in the home. You meet with DCS case managers, behavioral health providers, and school representatives to advocate for the youth’s needs. You follow up with your Program Manager to address licensing matters or ensure your documentation is audit-ready. You’re constantly observing, guiding, and supporting—bringing structure to chaos and comfort to kids who need consistency most.Responsibilities:Leadership & Supervision: Oversee and mentor a team of Direct Care Specialists across all shifts, ensuring consistent, trauma-informed care.Child-Centered Support: Maintain a nurturing, structured, and safe environment that promotes growth, healing, and stability.Scheduling & Operations: Manage staffing schedules, ensure coverage, and step in when needed to maintain licensing and safety standards.Agency Collaboration: Act as liaison with DCS, behavioral health agencies, schools, and healthcare providers to coordinate care and services.Compliance Oversight: Ensure homes are in line with Sunshine’s policies, DCS licensing standards, and contractual requirements.Transportation & Appointments: Transport children or oversee staff transporting them to essential appointments and community-based activities.Documentation: Review and approve daily logs, incident reports, and service documentation with accuracy and timeliness. Why Join Sunshine?Being a House Manager is more than a job—it’s a calling.
