ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Summer Camp Facilitator has the primary responsibility of creating safe spaces for participants to develop their own mindfulness practices. In addition to creating these spaces, the facilitator is expected to maintain their own personal practice so that they may be able to naturally and authentically demonstrate the use of mindfulness through daily interactions. Other duties and responsibilities are:* Assure participants are properly supervised at all times.* Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of participants.* Be a role model to participants and staff in your attitude and behavior.* Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.* Assist participants as needed with daily living skills* Accompany participants to main program areas and supervise their participation in structured and unstructured activities.* Participate enthusiastically in all activities, planning and leading as assigned.* Use appropriate behavior management techniques as needed.* Communicate and interact effectively with fellow staff members, administrative staff and participants, regardless of ability, race, creed, national origin, sexual identification or gender.* Abide by all program, policies and procedures. Assist with driving the van on field trips.* Complete and submit all paperwork as required within designated time frames.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS *Must be willing to submit to a background check** Should have 1-3 years direct service experience with populations pushed to the margins- including work with children of color in impoverished communities.* Must be dedicated to advancing an agenda of equity and social justice for individuals pushed to the margins, especially through participation in academics and the arts.* Must have strong interpersonal and team building skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability and willingness to be hands-on and creatively solve problems as they arise.* Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook), relational databases, and use of the Internet required.* Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and be able to drive a van (commercial license not necessary).REQUIRED TRAINING :The person in this position will be required to participate in mindfulness training and other trainings related to advocacy and student empowerment.ADDITIONAL NOTESThe person hired for this position must be willing to work one Saturday per month.This position is Full-Time in the summer and considered seasonal with an opportunity to transition to afterschool programming in the fall.Job Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hourExpected hours: 32 – 36 per weekSchedule:* Monday to FridayWork Location: In person
