Equity Education Coordinator

*About*Founded in 2009 by a dedicated team of educators, business professionals, and community leaders, Gateway Educational Services is Santa Barbara’s only non-profit learning center. We are committed to improving educational access and enhancing student learning, with a focus on racial equity, inclusion, and diversity.*Overview: *We are seeking a passionate and organized Program Coordinator to support initiatives centered on social justice, diversity, and student development. This part-time role involves planning and coordinating events, supporting student leadership programs, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning culture.*Key Responsibilities:** Assist in planning and facilitating workshops.* Support the Obsidian Scholars Program (Grades 4–8), including parent outreach and event attendance.* Foster a community culture centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion.* Coordinate events and special projects such as: Gateway Town Hall Webinar, Black Youth Leadership Summit, Black History Month programming.* Contact instructors and mentors, schedule, and supervise events virtually or on-site.* Facilitate group learning, discussions, and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.* Ensure that all events are engaging, well-organized, and aligned with the mission.*Qualifications:** Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in student services or related fields.* Experience working with youth, especially in tutoring, mentoring, or educational settings.* Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.* Demonstrated commitment to social justice education.* General knowledge of organizational and program management methods.* Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one by the date of hire.* Flexible, empathetic, and skilled at building rapport with students.* Creative and adaptable teaching and facilitation skills.*Ideal Candidate: *You're a motivated self-starter who values diversity, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact on students' lives.
