Temporary Chemical Operator

Around the world, the additives of BYK ensure that coatings and plastics precisely obtain the desired properties and the correct quality._*We’re looking for a highly motivated, experienced Temporary Chemical Operator to join our production team!*__*This role is a temporary, 4-6 month temporary assignment, with no guarantee of full-time conversion. Assignment is first shift, Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per day with Overtime as necessary.*_*SUMMARY: *Accurately and safely perform all packaging and material handling procedures and operations in an orderly manner in the production area. Assist in product manufacturing.*KEY CAPABILITIES:*_*KNOWLEDGE:*_· _Mechanical – _Being aware of the basic mechanics involved with all the systems and equipment used in the plant/facility· _Chemical –_ Knowledge of basic chemistry and its production applications· _Procedural – _Understanding our procedures and our procedural format_*SKILLS:*_· _Mechanical Aptitude – _The ability to adeptly utilize the equipment. This includes forklifts, valves, vacuum systems, cooling/heating systems, pumps and various other items and systems· _Trainability – _This skill demonstrated by how quickly and thoroughly procedures and equipment are learned· _Physical Skill – _to be able to correctly lift/move heavy objects utilizing all the best ergonomic techniques_*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*_*:*· Follow procedures for all product packaging· Maintain organization of raw material and supply inventories· Unload incoming raw material bulk shipments· Move products and raw materials between production and warehousing areas· Maintain communication with other plant personnel in regard to their job progress· Maintain organization and neatness of plant yard· In accordance with production schedule, supply heating shed with appropriate raw materials· Monitor and handle hazardous waste containers in accordance with procedures· Assist in manufacturing procedures· Must successfully complete appropriate D.O.T. Hazmat training· Participates in emergency response as defined in the program and training capability· Must successfully complete RCRA training according to job function and the regulations· Establish and maintain a clean and safe work environment· Follows emergency response procedures· Perform other duties as assigned_*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*_*:*· Employee will be required…· to lift 25-55# bags from floor to height of 52 inches to load tanks (20-60 bags per batch)· to pour 5 gallon buckets of liquid chemical from the floor to a height of 52” (weighing between 40-60#)· to stock and unload liquid chemicals from the floor to heights up to 70 inches, at a weights of 40-60#· to pull and lift hose (25#) to a height of 48 inches to fill tanks (up to 25 times per day)· to wash vessels with hose· to transfer pails of chemical 2 feet constantly weighing from 40-60#, up to 300 pails per shift· to unload trucks filled with empty drums (up to 47#) and empty pails (up to 8#) at a constant rate and roll drum 30 feet· to push/pull the mobile pump to fill tanks requiring 20# of force· to push and pull 20’ hoses weighing up to 60# to fill from truck· to perform the following tasks frequently: overhead reaching, bending, squatting, stair/ladder climbing, and use a forklift personal platform (cage).· to manipulate controls and steering wheel of forklift· to safely operate production equipment· to speak on phone· Must remain clean shaven and be capable of wearing SCBA and other types of respirators_*QUALIFICATIONS:*_· High School diploma or equivalency· Able to accurately read and execute manufacturing procedures· Must be able to read and write English· Good problem-solving ability· Excellent math aptitude*Benefits:** Medical, Dental Vision- Participation within the first 30 days of employment* Company paid Short-term and Long-term Disability* Voluntary Life Insurance* Competitive Bonus Potential* Employee Assistance Program* Tuition Reimbursement* 401(k) with employer match* PTOIn the ALTANA Group, you will work in a unique culture of innovation where the utmost importance is attached to promoting individual ideas and abilities as well as open, trusting interaction.
