Mindfulness and Spiritual Advisor Buddhist Tradition

*Position Overview:*We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate *Mindfulness and Spiritual Advisor*, rooted in Buddhist practice, to provide part-time support to a mission-driven community wellness initiative. This role is ideal for a Buddhist priest, monk, or trained lay practitioner who brings lived experience and teaching expertise in mindfulness, ethics, and spiritual transformation, especially within social justice or carceral contexts.The Advisor will offer spiritual mentorship, facilitate mindfulness sessions, and collaborate on content development rooted in the Dharma, aligned with a broader mission of liberation, healing, and resilience.*Key Responsibilities:** Facilitate regular mindfulness and meditation sessions (virtually or in person) for participants and/or staff.* Offer spiritual support and guidance grounded in Buddhist principles, including compassion, non-attachment, and right action.* Contribute to curriculum and program design in alignment with mindfulness, Dharma teachings, and trauma-informed practices.* Provide one-on-one or small group spiritual advising, as appropriate.* Collaborate with other team members to ensure programming supports the holistic well-being of participants.* Serve as a cultural and ethical anchor for the organization’s mindfulness-based work.*Preferred Qualifications:** Ordained or recognized as a Dharma leader, or an equivalent level of experience in Buddhist practice.* Demonstrated experience facilitating mindfulness, meditation, or Buddhist-based spiritual instruction.* Deep understanding of trauma-informed and anti-oppressive frameworks.* Experience working with incarcerated or formerly incarcerated populations is strongly preferred.* Strong communication skills and capacity for empathy, presence, and discernment.* Based in or near Sacramento, CA is ideal; remote applicants will be considered.*Compensation:*This is a part-time, contract position.
