*Job Title: Line Cook**Job Description:**Position Overview:*The Line Cook is a fundamental member of the culinary team at Jourdan River Steamer, responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating seafood and other dishes with precision, consistency, and attention to detail. With a focus on culinary excellence and teamwork, the Line Cook plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests by ensuring that each dish is prepared to perfection and reflects the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation.*Key Responsibilities:** *Station Operation*: Operate a designated station on the hot line, such as grill, sauté, or steam, with proficiency and efficiency, ensuring timely preparation and execution of dishes during service.* *Food Preparation*: Prepare ingredients for cooking, including trimming, portioning, and seasoning seafood, vegetables, and other components according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.* *Cooking Techniques*: Utilize a variety of cooking techniques, such as grilling, sautéing, steaming, and roasting, to enhance flavors, textures, and presentation of dishes.* *Plating and Presentation*: Plate dishes with precision and attention to detail, garnishing with complementary sauces, herbs, and garnishes to create visually stunning presentations that reflect the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence.* *Timing and Coordination: *Coordinate with other line cooks and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the hot line, maintaining proper sequencing and pacing of orders during service.* *Quality Control*: Monitor cooking temperatures, cooking times, and visual cues to ensure consistent quality and doneness of dishes, making adjustments as needed to maintain standards.* *Cleanliness and Sanitation*: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the line station and surrounding areas, including proper storage and handling of ingredients, utensils, and cooking equipment.* *Collaboration*: Communicate effectively with Sous Chefs, Expeditor, and other kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely execution of orders and seamless coordination during service.* *Menu Knowledge*: Stay informed about menu offerings, including daily specials and seasonal updates, and communicate with servers and kitchen staff about ingredient availability and menu changes.* *Safety Compliance*: Adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling of hot surfaces, sharp knives, and potentially hazardous ingredients, to maintain a safe working environment.*Qualifications** *Culinary Experience*: Previous experience as a line cook or kitchen assistant in a restaurant or similar establishment preferred.* *Culinary Skills:* Strong proficiency in cooking techniques and methods, with a focus on seafood preparation and cooking preferred.* *Attention to Detail*: Meticulous attention to detail and precision in cooking, plating, and presentation of dishes.* *Team Player*: Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff during busy service periods.* *Time Management*: Ability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple orders simultaneously.* *Adaptability*: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, and the ability to adapt to changing menu offerings and guest preferences.* *Food Safety Certification*: Certification in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) preferred.The Line Cook plays a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests at Jourdan River Steamer by ensuring the precise and consistent preparation and presentation of seafood and other dishes, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence and guest satisfaction.Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: $9.00 - $15.00 per hourBenefits:* Employee discountExperience:* commercial kitchen: 2 years (Preferred)Language:* English (Required)License/Certification:* Driver's License (Preferred)Shift availability:* Night Shift (Required)Work Location: In person
