Job Description

JOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Coordinator of Advisement Services, the Advisor is responsible forproviding information and clarification of policies and procedures regarding the Partnership tuitionbenefits program, as well as educational advisement to CSEA-represented NYS employees. The advisorassists employees in making educational decisions by collecting personal data, disseminatinginformation on educational resources, and making appropriate referrals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAdvisement and Program Support:1. Provides advisement services via telephone and e-mail on tuition benefits and other Partnershipprograms, financial aid, non-traditional study, basic skills referral, and how to determine course ofstudy, course(s) selection, and school(s) to pursue.2. Conducts intake and follow-up phone sessions with employees.3. Disseminates and collects career assessment information to assist employees with developing careerand education options.4. Refers callers to additional state, education, and other programs and services.5. Delivers webinars and serves as a webinar host.6. Assists with revising and editing of advisement webinars and workshops and advisement writtenresources, including website and on-line material, as needed.7. Collaborates on curriculum development projects.8. Verifies accreditation of education and training providers to ensure tuition benefit programcompliance.9. Periodically develops success stories for inclusion on the Partnership’s website.Employee Support:1. Serves as primary contact for special programs (for example, Targeted Tuition, Adult Education Basics,and Applied Skilled Trades Programs). Ensures documentation on file is accurate. Provides follow-upto assess the success of participants.2. Maintains accurate records of contacts and case management notes.3. Conducts informal surveys for Partnership programs when needed.Other:1. Completes special projects as needed.2. Participates in regional outreach meetings to obtain feedback from stakeholders and provideinformation on Partnership programs and services.3. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.ORAn associate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience working withadult learners providing educational and/or career advisement, maintaining a caseload, and facilitatingin-person or online presentationsORThree years of experience working with adult learners providing educational and/or careeradvisement, managing a caseload, and facilitating in-person or online presentationsORThree years of experience working within a labor-management training and education environmentORA satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate experience and education as determined by theNYS & CSEA Partnership for Education and TrainingANDStrong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written communications skillsAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environmentFunctional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and basic database softwareAbility to work with a diverse populationEdit job descriptionJob Type: Full-timePay: From $56,655.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Employee discount* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Professional development assistance* Retirement plan* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shiftWork Location: In person
