Kitchen Assistant/Cook

*Summary*We are looking for team members who are interested in working in Astoria, Queens, and who have experience in the food/kitchen space.We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced professionals to join our team.This role is responsible for preparation, assembly and serving of food with adherence to health and sanitary guidelines.*PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:** Prepare, cook and serve food* Prepare recipes according to guidelines as instructed by Head Chef* Practice safe handling and temperature control of prepared foods.* Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work and kitchen area. This includes but is not limited to washing dishes, putting away deliveries, organizing product, etc.* Maintain record of food usage and assist in taking of monthly food inventory.* Practice proper functioning and cleaning of equipment and station area* Unpack, stock, & organize all items in and around the kitchen to maintain the highest level of cleanliness possible* Assist in taking inventory and practice FIFO methods* Any and all duties in accordance to operational needs* Weekend and evening availability is a must*CANDIDATE PROFILE** MUST be reliable and punctual.* One year experience working in a commercial kitchen* Maintain friendly, helpful and positive attitude at all times* Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction* Communicates information effectively and efficiently* Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per business needs* Ability to multi-task and prioritize; Comfortable working in fast-paced environment* The ability to perform the physical requirements of the position (stand for long periods, and lift up to 30lbs.)* Able to prepare culturally diverse meals* Knowledge of all Health and Sanitary Codes* Comfortable with handling basic Computer skills, Internet* *Valid NYC DOHMH Food Protection Certificate required*/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_Reality House, Inc. assists individuals, families and communities lead productive and positive lifestyles.
