Job Description

*Summary/Objective*Landmark Plastic, a leading manufacturer of plastic products used in the horticulture industry, is looking for an experienced Extrusion Department Manager to lead our extrusion department. The position will work hands-on with our 24/7 extrusion operation producing polypropylene and polystyrene roll stock to support our internal thermoforming operations. Empower and coach extrusion production teams to safely achieve quality, productivity and efficiency targets and to contribute to the evolving continuous improvement efforts.The Extrusion Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and resource stewardship for a sheet PP & PS extrusion manufacturing site located in Akron, OH. This role is accountable for driving timely and impactful improvements to the operating environment and for delivering performance at or above expectations for cost, safety, and quality. The goals of this role are to manage established processes, implement equipment upgrades and combine long-term thinking with near term actions and decisions.Successful candidates demonstrate their commitment to their team by taking direct responsibility for the safety of the people who work in your department, build trust and value the experience of the team around them and look to develop the people, sets high expectations for self and others, is a change agent and an effective communicator, and shows personal resilience. This position is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to thrive and grow personally and professionally.This position reports to the Plant Manager.*Key Responsibilities*· Achieve production goals with an emphasis on working safely, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, focusing on Quality, Productivity, budgets, and facilitating associate training & development· Contribute to Landmark culture of “People, Process, Product” through education, training, and performance management practices· Partner with production and plant leadership to address performance and/or behavioral concerns. Participate in grievance and conflict resolution process when required· Partner with our Production Scheduler and Materials Manager to ensure our raw material flow meets current and future production requirements· Collaborate with other departments, shifts, and teams to enhance communication and maximize productivity across the facility· Identify equipment needs, repairs & preventative maintenance, and capital investments· Maintain daily production schedules and weekly crew schedules· Track and develop permanent standard operational documentation· Other duties as assigned at the discretion of Plant Management*Required Skillset/Competencies*· Leadership: a demonstrated ability to achieve results through empowerment, engagement, and inspiring performance· Teamwork: a demonstrated ability to collaborate, establish collective solutions, and to maintain professional and cooperative relationships· Organization: a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple competing priorities· Communication: a demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas, identify and report root cause analysis, and present continuous improvement solutions to senior management· Integrity: a demonstrated ability to maintain dignity and respect for all including doing what’s right and celebrating people*Qualifications*· Prior work in a plastics extrusion operation· Prior work leading teams of 15-30 team members· Basic knowledge of ERP system – preferred· Minimum 5 years’ experience within an Extrusion sheet manufacturing environment· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a department supervisory role· Excellent written and verbal communication skills· Proven safety record and knowledge of industry safety standards· Proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications· Physically able to maintain regular floor presence (e.g., 80% floor time, 20% office)*Supervisory Responsibility*Responsible for all 3 operating shifts with each shift staffing 4-6 associates.*Work Environment*Able to work safely in a manufacturing environment with fumes, moving mechanical parts, vibration, elevated noise level and extreme temperatures. Proper PPE is required and must be worn.*Physical Demands*· Able to sit/stand and key information into a computer.· Frequent standing. Occasionally climbing on fix and movable stairs, stooping, reaching, and crouching.· Frequently lifting/moving 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.· Associate’s vison must have good up close, distance, peripheral, depth perception & color recognition.· Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.*Position Type and Expected Hours of Work*Our business is seasonal. Shifts, schedules and working hours may fluctuate depending on business conditions.
