Exciting project in Palo Alto with local biotech company looking for a friendly & motivated Food Runner/Busser/Overall FOH oriented person. Our goal in dining is to mimic the labs upstairs with creativity by stepping outside of our normal routine and pushing for excellence. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their craft and is willing to explore above their current knowledge.We serve breakfast & plated lunches from Mondays to Fridays with occasional nights for quarterly board meetings. All food is made in house with the same attention to detail as described above. On any given day you could expect to be serving with your coffee: creative house made Danishes with strawberry & miso, croissants made with Normandy butter, pain au chocolate made with Valrhona, or 3 day fermented waffles just to name a few. We also run an in house kombucha program with support from our sous chef who is well versed in fermentation. We are a project in constant motion and not afraid to fail as we explore outside of our boundaries.Candidates will possess a solid understanding of coffee making, latte art (not crucial but appreciated), restaurant style service, possess a collaborative spirit, and take pride in their work.Must be a passionate, skilled, hands on individual to support the Front of House team under direction of Director of Dining & Collaboration (executive chef) with support from the Sous Chef and Cook Team.Your day would look like this:6am or 7am start timeCoffee Bar set up & checking menu for breakfast, detailing dining room & stocking for lunch service7:30am-10 am-Pouring coffee, teas, heating pastries, greeting science/executive team members while preparing for lunch service.10am-10:30am- Delicious & nutritious lunch break with dining team prepared by our kitchen staff.10:30am-11:30am- Cleaning coffee bar & setting up the salad bar.11:30am-2pm- Running food for lunch service, detailing tables. We do not do full service but a counter style service where guests clear their own plates. All that is required is a sanitizing of tables once empty.2pm-3:30 or 4:30pm- Restocking grab & go drinks, sanitizing all tables, pouring coffee for the afternoon guests, polishing silverware, restocking, breaking down & cleaning of the coffee bar.In between the above you would be encouraged to perform your own R&D for seasonal coffee drinks, kombuchas, or general coffee bar operation ideas.
