Job Description

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager is responsible for Fortbrand Services’ day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of all ground support equipment utilized by Fortbrand. The GSE Manager ensures that the equipment is safe, reliable, and operational to meet the demands of internal and external customers. This role requires effective leadership, equipment management expertise, and a focus on safety and efficiency within a fast-paced environment.*Essential functions*· Responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of all ground support equipment· Ensures that the equipment is safe, reliable, and operational to meet the demands of airline and airport services· Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime· Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for audit and reporting purposes· Ensure that all GSE operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, FAA, and airport-specific guidelines· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards· Implement safety training programs for GSE staff and ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards· Identify opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining equipment quality and operational efficiency· Collaborate with procurement teams to source and purchase parts, supplies, and new equipment as needed· Establish relationships with external service providers and vendors to manage equipment warranties, repairs, and parts supply· Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for equipment utilization, maintenance costs, and operational efficiency*Competencies *(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)· Mechanically inclined with excellent problem-solving skills.· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.· Organized with attention to detail.· Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.· Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.· Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability· Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.*Supervisory responsibilities*· Oversees the operations of the Maintenance Department· Leads and mentors the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.· Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.· Promote professional development and training opportunities for team members.· This role requires effective leadership, equipment management expertise, and a focus on safety and efficiency within a fast-paced airport environment*Work environment*· *Work Conditions:* The job may involve working in outdoor environments, around heavy machinery, and in varying weather conditions.· *Service:* May require working weekends, holidays, and being on-call for emergency repairs or equipment issues.· *Schedule:* Monday – Friday*Physical demands*· Prolonged periods standing and walking.· Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.· Must be able to visually inspect machines.· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.*Travel required*· Certain employees will require travel. Travel expectations are communicated to impacted employees*Education and experience*· Minimum of 5 years of experience in ground support equipment management, aviation operations, or a related field· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)· Strong knowledge of GSE maintenance procedures, safety standards, and regulatory compliance· Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in a fast-paced environment*Other duties*Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
