*Job Overview*We are seeking dedicated Correctional Officers to join our team. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the correctional facility.*Job Summary*The primary purpose of the Corrections Officer position is to guard, observe and transport inmates. Officer enforces the rules and policies of the facility and ensures that the safety and welfare of inmates and staff are safeguarded. This is a trainee position that involves required completion of academy and field training including closely supervised performance of corrections officer duties. The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor.*Pay Scale*COI $43,136.69COII $44,864.00COIII $47,190.11Sergeants $50,460.48*Opportunities for Advancement*Inner office promotions include opportunities for Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Multiple current members of the Command Staff were originally Corrections Officers. Additionally, our very own Sheriff JC Hooper began his law enforcement career as a Corrections Officer within the Nueces County Jail.*Qualifications** Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).* Must be 18+ years old and a citizen of the United States.* All candidates must consent to a criminal background check* Has never been on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order.* Is not currently charged with any criminal offense for which conviction would be a bar to licensure.* Has never been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years.* Has never been convicted or placed on community supervision in any court of an offense involving family violence as defined under Chapter 71, Texas Family Code.* Has never received a dishonorable discharge from the armed forces of the United States.* Required to achieve TCOLE certification as a Corrections Officer within twelve months of appointment.Joining our team as a Correctional Officer offers a challenging yet rewarding career path with opportunities for professional growth and development.
