*Senior Director of Camps**Classification:* Full Time, Exempt*Reports to:* Executive Director*Supervises:* Director of Camps and Volunteer Leadership Team*Job Description:*The *Senior Director of Camps* provides high-level oversight, strategic direction, and leadership for all Camp Rainbow Foundation camp programs. This role ensures compliance with organizational policies and licensing standards while maintaining and enhancing the quality, safety, and impact of all camp experiences. The Senior Director will oversee the Director of Camps and support the growth of the entire camp team, lead the development of new camp programs, and steward the advancement of leadership across the camp community.*Hours/Work Schedule:*Full time. Some evenings and weekends required. This position is hybrid with work in the Camp Rainbow office, community, and residential camp settings. The Senior Director of Camps will be required to be on site for all camp programs (including overnight).*About Camp Rainbow Foundation:*The Camp Rainbow Foundation provides free camping experiences to children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases and disorders. We create a nurturing and recreational environment where children can build self-esteem, make new friends, and create joyful memories—free from the stresses of illness. Camp Rainbow is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.*Primary Responsibilities**Strategic Oversight & Leadership:** Provide organizational leadership and strategic vision for all camp programs, ensuring alignment with Camp Rainbow’s mission and long-term goals.* Supervise the Director of Camps and support their day-to-day management of camp programs.* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and licensing standards; maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.* Partner with the Executive Director and other senior staff to support growth, innovation, and sustainability of Camp Rainbow’s programs.*Program Development & Evaluation:** Lead the creation and launch of new camp initiatives and programs that respond to community needs and opportunities for impact.* Maintain high-level oversight of all existing programs, working with the Director of Camps to ensure consistent delivery and quality.* Oversee evaluation efforts and ensure programs are effective, inclusive, and aligned with camper needs and best practices.*Leadership Development & Volunteer Engagement:** Design and implement leadership development strategies for staff and key volunteers across the camp community.* Foster a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth within the camp team.* Support the development and sustainability of Camp Rainbow’s Leadership Volunteer structure.*Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:** Collaborate with parents, hospital partners, volunteers, and external partners to support effective camper recruitment, care, and safety.* Represent Camp Rainbow in community events, professional conferences, and key partnerships.* Participate in and support third-party fundraisers and other mission-aligned events as needed.*Key Relationships:** *Executive Director:* Collaborates closely to set and implement camp-related strategic goals.* *Director of Camps:* Direct supervisory relationship, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluation.* *Leadership Volunteers and Camp Staff:* Works collaboratively to enhance volunteer leadership and camp culture.* *Hospital and Rental Camp Partners:* Maintains relationships to ensure program safety, camper referrals, and compliance.*Qualifications:**Education & Experience:** Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.* Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in residential and/or day camping programs.* Demonstrated success in supervisory roles, program development, and compliance oversight.* Meet all current medical/health requirements for employees including full vaccinations*Skills & Attributes:** Proven leader with the ability to mentor and develop staff and volunteers.* Deep understanding of residential and day camp operations, youth development, and inclusive programming.* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects.* Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn CampBrain and other relevant systems.* Ability to travel to camp locations and work non-traditional hours as needed.* Must be able to lift 40 lbs and navigate uneven terrain and stairs in camp environments.*Working Conditions:*This role is hybrid and requires flexibility across office, community, and camp environments. Occasional extended hours and travel are necessary.
