*Position Title: Craft Distillery Bartender/Mixologist*Schedule: 8 to 24 hrs/weekCompensation: $15/hour + tips or tip split*Summary Description:*Experienced, innovative and passionate Bartender responsible for preparation of service, guest experience, creating, crafting and serving a variety of beverages, and maintaining the bar's cleanliness. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable and creative with drink recipes/techniques , standards of identification of spirits, has a friendly and outgoing personality, and can multi-task in a high-paced environment effectively.*Key Responsibilities:*· Opening Duties - which may include but is not limited to: setting up the bar, cleaning, juicing citrus, creating syrups, batching cocktails, mopping, dusting, cleaning up the 3 bay sink, and replacing inventory both retail and spirits.· Closing Duties – which may include but is not limited to: Un-setting the bar, cleaning the bar rails, top surfaces, counter tops, table tops/chairs/rails, wiping down syrup bottles, juice bottles, liquor bottles, garnish bowls, shakers/mixing glasses/spoons, clean hand and dump sink and ice well, clean 3 bay sink and store all washed service ware in the sink. Make sure that the rolling bar cart and Juicing equipment is cleaned, and all parts of equipment returned to cart and to their respective appliances. Empty all trash cans in the bar and bathroom area and breakdown/remove all incoming boxes.* ·Clean Beer Lines* Clean Ice Machine* General Cleaning· *Inventory Monitoring*: Monitor stock levels of liquor, mixers, and other bar supplies. Inform management when inventory is getting low and assist with restocking.· *Drink Preparation*: Mix and serve craft cocktails and mocktails, measured in accordance to company specs. This includes cocktails, beer, wine, and other beverages.· *Customer Service*: Greet customers, take orders, and interact with them in a welcoming and professional manner. Having a knowledge of the menu and list of spirits both created by the distillery and outside. Provide recommendations based on customer preferences.· *ID Verification*: Check identification of guests to ensure they meet legal drinking age requirements.· *Payment Handling*: Open tabs for all customers, process customer payments, and ensure payment processing through Toast. This includes ensuring all tabs have been closed at the end of the night and notifying management if there are any issues.· *Cleanliness*: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including cleaning glasses, utensils, bar spaces and guest places. This includes the following:o Behind the baro under and behind the well and fridgeo in any preparation spaces such as the fridge, juicing and syrup cart, and 3-tiered sink,o Cocktail lounge and patioo Bathrooms (i.e. toilet, touch surfaces, floors, sink, mirror, and trash cans)· *Conflict Resolution*: Handle customer complaints or issues in a calm and professional manner. Work with security or management to manage unruly customers if necessary.· *Team Collaboration*: Work closely with servers and management to ensure smooth operations and a positive guest experience.· *Event Support*: May Assist with distillery special events, promotions, and other activities that require bartending services.*Qualifications:*· *Experience*: Previous experience as a bartender or in a related hospitality service role is preferred.· *Knowledge*: Understanding of how spirits are made, classic cocktail recipes, mixing techniques, and customer service principles.· *Skills*: Excellent communication skills, thoughtful attention to customer experience, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.· *Certifications*: Certification in alcohol awareness (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) will need to be obtained before the end of the training period, Barsmarts certification preferred.· *Physical Requirements*: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.*Work Environment:*The work environment can be noisy and busy, especially during peak hours. Bartenders are expected to maintain a high level of energy, provide clear communication and professionalism with customers, vendors, managers and ownership.*Position expectations: **Presentation and Professionalism: *· *Appearance:* Maintain a clean personal (hair, nails, clothes, self) and professional appearance, adhering to any dress code or uniform requirements. Any cuts or abrasions on hands/arms or exposed areas are to be bandaged. If you have a cut on your hand, it is to be bandaged and gloves used for cocktail preparations.· *Environment*: Create a welcoming environment for all guests no matter background, race, ethnicity, orientation, gender, or ability. All guests are welcome in the space unless they are activity choosing to create a negative experience for other guests.· *Communication:* Communicate effectively with both customers and team members. This includes taking orders clearly and relaying them accurately to the kitchen or other staff. If you are contacted by ownership, management or co-workers you are to acknowledge any emails or text messages.· *Reliability:* Arrive on time, ready to work, and follow the schedule. Be dependable, especially during peak hours and special events.· Smoking/vaping is not allowed on-premises during service. Headphones/ear buds are not allowed during service in FOH. Consuming alcohol while on shift, is not allowed.*Knowledge and Expertise: *· *Spirited Curiosity:* At Liberty and Plenty Distillery, we were founded on the idea of curiosity. This should be present in all we do, including our pursuit of knowing, understanding, and exploring spirits. Knowledge of Liberty & Plenty Spirits, production philosophies, points of differentiation and flavor profiles required. Additional knowledge of the other spirits in our bar along with category spirits not referenced in our bar sets, is highly suggested.· *Education*: Furthering your spirits education is important. This includes on-line training, for spirits and mixology education. The distillery will reimburse employees upon successful completion of approved certifications. Check with the Front of House Manager and/or Leadership prior to ensure the certification will be covered.· *Drink Mastery:* Have a strong knowledge of menu drink recipes, ingredients, and preparation techniques. Drink knowledge should also include an understanding of cocktail theory to create balanced classic cocktails and popular beverages.· *Product Knowledge:* Understand the menu, our products, special offers, new products, and any pairings that enhance the drink experience. Knows the Standards of Identity for Spirits.· *Alcohol Responsibility:* Be aware of alcohol laws and regulations, including recognizing signs of intoxication and knowing when to refuse service.*Safety and Compliance:*· *ID Verification:* Consistently check IDs to ensure customers are of legal drinking age.· *Health and Safety:* Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of food and beverages and maintaining a safe work environment.· *Conflict Management:* Handle conflicts or difficult situations with professionalism, ensuring the safety and comfort of all guests.*Creativity:*· *Creative Input:* Offer suggestions for new cocktails or drink specials. Be willing to experiment with ingredients and presentations to create unique offerings.· *Adaptability:* Adapt to changes, whether it’s a new menu, a different crowd, or special events, and maintain a positive attitude.*Team: *· *Team Player:* Work well with other staff members, including servers, distillery staff, and management, to ensure smooth operations.· *Support:* Help other team members when needed, cleaning the bar or productions spaces, bussing tables, or assisting with other tasks.Located in bustling Durham location, this company is hiring a Bartender with with mixology/bartending/POS and some management skills.
