As a civic anchor, we carry out this mission within the context of building a sustainable community for all people through the arts, environmental advocacy, and urban planning.Established in 1994, *St. Nicks Alliance’s Youth and Education program* serves over 6,000 North Brooklyn youth annually, empowering them to thrive through every stage of development. In partnership with schools, families, and the community, the organization takes a holistic approach that integrates youth development, academic enrichment, health and wellness, arts education, and post-secondary readiness. Its School Success Model brings transformational practices to afterschool programs, emphasizing literacy immersion and socioemotional and behavioral support to promote long-term academic success.*About this opportunity:*In collaboration with NYC Community Schools Corp, Success Mentors/Assistant Director work to reduce chronic absenteeism and boost academic achievement by addressing students' social, emotional, physical, and academic needs through a “whole child, whole community” approach. This coordinated effort involves partnerships among schools, families, and community-based organizations to identify and meet the most pressing needs of students and their communities.We are seeking a passionate and organized professional to serve as both a _Success Mentor_ (10 AM–2 PM) and _Assistant Director_ (2 PM–6 PM). This dual role supports the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of students while helping lead high-quality afterschool programming. The ideal candidate will bring strong mentorship skills, leadership experience, and a commitment to youth development and educational equity.*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**Student Mentorship & Attendance Support:** Mentor a caseload of 10–15 chronically absent students, acting as a coach and trusted support.* Lead advisory groups, student clubs, and restorative circles that foster social-emotional development and academic success.* Collaborate with school staff (principal, Community School Director, counselors) to identify and support chronically absent students.* Organize and lead attendance incentives, challenges, and school attachment events.* Maintain regular communication with caregivers and school personnel to support student success.*Supervision & Staff Support:** Assist the Program Director with hiring, training, and coaching of group leaders, activity specialists, and interns.* Provide ongoing classroom management support aligned with day school practices (e.g., Responsive Classroom).* Oversee afterschool snack/meal distribution and ensure smooth daily operations.*Partnership & Relationship Development:** Foster and maintain strong partnerships with school leadership, staff, families, and community stakeholders.* Support integration of school-day and afterschool goals through consistent communication and collaboration.* Plan and coordinate at least two parent engagement events per school year.*Program Development*:* Support implementation of a division-wide, theme-based curriculum across Literacy, STEM, SEL, and physical fitness.* Attend all literacy trainings and support program alignment with academic goals.* Help design and implement a high-quality schedule delivering at least 15 hours of weekly enrichment activities.*Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities:** Maintain accurate data in funder systems, including enrollment, attendance (program and meals), and activity logs.* Ensure 100% compliance with all programmatic benchmarks and administrative deadlines.* Support with funder site visits and prepare necessary documentation.* Complete additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor.*Qualifications:*Required:* High School Diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred)* 1–2 years of supervision experience* Experience in afterschool, youth, or educational settings* Eligibility to work in the U.S. and ability to pass criminal background checks*Preferred:** Bilingual (Spanish/English)* Familiarity with NYC Department of Education systems and community school models*Ability to Relocate*: Brooklyn, NY 11211: Relocate before starting work (Required)Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: $45,000.00 per yearBenefits:* Dental insurance* Employee discount* Flexible schedule* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Monday to FridayShift availability:* Day Shift (Preferred)Ability to Commute:* Brooklyn, NY 11211 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Brooklyn, NY 11211: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
