CNC Gear Shaping Operator

*JOB SUMMARY:* The CNC Gear Shaper Operator will be responsible for setting up, programming and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision gears according to design specifications. The operator will ensure that gears meet quality standards and production schedules while maintaining machine efficiency and safety.*DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** *Machine Set Up and Operation:* Set up and operate CNC shapers for cutting of gears to produce product based on prints and specifications* *Programming*: Load and input programs into CNC shapers, be able to modify and edit programs* *Monitoring and Quality Control*: Monitor the machine’s operation to ensure accurate and consistent gear production, ensuring all parts meet the specified tolerances* *Tooling and Maintenance:* Change cutting tools and conduct routine maintenance on machines to keep them in optimal working condition* *Blueprint Interpretation:* Read and interrupt technical drawings, blueprints and shop orders to ensure proper gear dimensions and material specifications* *Measuring and Inspection*: Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers and gear measurement instruments) to inspect parts and ensure compliance with quality standards* *Troubleshooting*: Diagnose and address any issues with the CNC shapers and/or the gear cutting process, This includes identifying machine malfunctions making adjustments to correct them* *Safety and Cleanliness:* Follow all safety procedures including wearing all appropriate protective equipment. Keep work areas clean and free of hazards* *Documentation*: Maintain records of production runs, material usage, machine maintenance and inspection results* *Collaboration:* Work closely with engineering, production and quality control*QUALIFICATIONS:** *Experience*: Previous experience as a CNC machine operator, ideally in a gear manufacturing environment with shapers* *Technical Skills*: Proficiency in operating CNC machines, including familiarity with CNC programming languages and software. Experience with gear cutting techniques* *Knowledge of Gears*: Understanding of gear types, specifications and manufacturing process.
