*Tallatoona Community Action Partnership, Inc.**JOB TITLE: Kitchen Assistant**POSITION: *Full Time*STATUS: *Non-Exempt*Office Location: *Head Start Early Child Development CenterPaulding County*General Description:*Under the direction of the Center Manager, the Kitchen Assistant will work to ensure that all aspects of the nutrition component meet or exceed the requirements of The Head Start Performance Standards, Georgia Bright from the Start: Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) Rules and Regulations, United States Department Of Agriculture (USDA), Child and Adult Care Food Learning Program (CACFP) and Tallatoona CAP, Inc. and develop a team approach in collaboration with the Kitchen Manager.*Duties and Responsibilities*Assists the Kitchen Manager in utilizing a 5-week cycle menu to purchase and receive food stock to prepare meals.Assists the Kitchen Manager in purchasing food according to agency directives.Assists the Kitchen Manager with preparing and serving food in accordance with established USDA regulations and agency directives.Assists the Kitchen Manager with ensuring accurate meals, snacks and utensils are prepared for family style eating.Assists the Kitchen Manager in maintaining kitchen area, lunchroom and storage area in a clean sanitary condition at all times in order to maintain a Health Department Inspection score of 95 or greater.Assists the Kitchen Manager with preparing reports as required by agency and USDA requirements.Assists the Kitchen Manager with maintaining accurate inventories as requested.Assists the Kitchen Manager in providing monthly menus to teachers to send home to parents.Assist the Kitchen Manager with having ingredients ready for teachers to do nutrition activities.Assists with maintaining nutrition and other requirements on Bulletin Board.Assist the Kitchen Manager with providing for special dietary needs of children with disabilities.Must meet or exceed monthly Quality Assurance Reviews.Reports all needs related to service area delivery to the Center Manager.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*Must be able to read and write effectively.Must have the ability to plan and organize.Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, good driving record and maintain adequate liability insurance.Must be able to attend required meetings and trainings.Must be able to lift 40 pounds.*Education and Experience*Minimum of high school education (diploma) or GEDTwo years training in meal planning and preparation is preferredPossess knowledge of food service and menu planning*Work Environment*This job operates in a childcare environment. This role routinely requires interactions with children, parents, noisy and fast paced day to day activities. Requires uses kitchen equipment, cookware, utensils and temperature changes.*Physical Demands*While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds.
