*Host/ Hostess*Job Description*Reports to: *Manager/General Manager *Department:* FOH*Date: *February 2022 *Classification: *Non-Exempt*General Summary Description:*The Host/Hostess welcomes guests, seats them at indoor/outdoor tables or bar area, and help ensure the quality of facilities and guest service. Presents menus to guests and answers questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request. Is thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of the menu, ingredients, and prices.*Duties /Responsibilities:** Greet guests, escort them to their seats or waiting areas and present them with menus and wine lists.* Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs.* Ensure guests are seated promptly, be attentive at all times to guests seated in waiting areas.* Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.* Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.* Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and guests' concerns are addressed.* Receive and record guests' dining reservations.* Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints.* Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.* Answer the telephone and answer questions or direct calls to the appropriate staff member.* Handle to-go orders on an as-needed basis.* Maintains adequate stock of menus, supplies, and silverware.* Stock all items on Front Desk Checklist.* Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.* Communicate appropriately and effectively with all customers, staff, and managers.* Ensure that all opening, mid-day, and closing duties are completed.* Maintain a clean and organized workstation.* Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.* Perform other duties as assigned.*Direction Received:* Initial direction for each job*Analytical Requirements:* There is a choice of standard procedures*Decisions and Judgment:* No authority to commit the organization in negotiations or with respect to finances*Initiative:* Work is performed under the direct supervision*Minimum Qualifications** Host/Hostess experience preferred.*Additional Requirements**Licenses/Certification:** Food Handlers Certification required*Special Requirements/ Skills:** Ability to work well with others and take direction from General Manager, and Owners.* Available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends.* Excellent customer service skills Ability to work well under times of intense pressure.* Exemplary teamwork, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.* Strong supervisory skills.* Excellent Human Relations skills.*Work Environment:** Restaurant environment.* Exposure to loud noises and the general public.* Long periods of standing and/or walking up to 12 hours per day.*Physical Demands**Requirements Frequency*Standing 80%Walking 15%Sitting Vision Acuity/Reading 80%Speaking 80%Hearing 80%*Requirements* *Frequency*Typing OftenLifting up to 50 lbs.: SometimesCarrying up to 50 lbs.: SometimesPushing: Up to 50 lbs.
