*Job Position Summary: *The Level 2 Thin Film Coating Technician is responsible for independently operating assigned vacuum coating chambers and supporting consistent, high-quality output. This technician applies their training to execute production runs, conduct inspections, and contribute to process reliability across multiple chamber platforms.*Key Responsibilities:*· - Operate and monitor coating chambers (e-beam, IAD, sputtering) with minimal supervision· - Interpret coating travelers, recipes, and inspection standards· - Load and unload substrates, ensuring proper tooling and fixturing· - Inspect parts using visual and metrology tools; document defects accurately· - Monitor and record process parameters throughout runs· - Clean and maintain chamber components and area organization· - Assist in first article and test runs; provide feedback to engineering· - Train and support Level 1 technicians· - Follow all safety, contamination control, and documentation protocols*Required Qualifications:*· - 1–2 years of experience in optical, vacuum, or precision manufacturing· - Demonstrated ability to operate coating chambers and follow process instructions· - Attention to detail and quality standards· - Strong organizational and communication skills*Preferred Qualifications:*· - Cross-trained on multiple chamber types or coating platforms· - Familiarity with spectrophotometers, profilometers, or similar tools· - Experience supporting engineering process trials*Skills and Competencies:*· - Proficiency in coating chamber setup and operation· - Understanding of inspection tools and defect recognition· - Consistent execution of job travelers and process specs· - Effective trainer and communicator with peers*Training and Development:*· - Ongoing cross-training on multiple chamber systems· - Opportunities to participate in engineering trials and process improvement initiatives· - Supports technician onboarding and procedural updates*Promotion Criteria:*· - Proficiency across multiple platforms with consistent quality output· - Demonstrated ability to train and lead Level 1 technicians· - Strong documentation and communication with engineering and quality teams· - Manager recommendation for advancement to Level 3 based on leadership, technical skill, and reliability*Working Conditions:*Work is performed in a clean room or climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
