Job Description

*Summary*The Activity Specialist should have a passion for working with young people and a solid understanding of positive youth development principles. They will be responsible for designing and delivering project-based learning (PBL) activities that promote health, creativity, academic growth, and leadership development. Activities may include, but are not limited to, social-emotional learning (SEL), mentoring, literacy, STREAM, physical activity, leadership, and academic support such as Power Hour/homework help*Qualifications and Skills: ** Associate or bachelor's degree in education, Youth Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.* Demonstrated skills and experience in specific areas such as sports, art, music, drama, STREAM, or other youth-focused enrichment activities.* Minimum 2 years of experience in classroom and behavior management and working with elementary-aged youth in an afterschool or youth development setting.* Managing confidential data and adhering to privacy regulations.* Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.* Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management software.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal teams and families.* Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.* Ability to support and lead staff in policy and procedure implementation.* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in challenging situations.* Experience working with students who have IEPs or other learning needs is strongly preferred.* Strong instructional leadership with the ability to plan, lead, and adapt activities confidently.* Proven ability to collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams.* Strong communication, organization, and public speaking skills.*The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
