Job title : CookLocation: Childcare CenterReports to: Site Supervisor or CACFP Food Program ManagerQualifications:* All applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.* Certificate for Food Handling (renew every two years)* Graduation from high school required.* Possess knowledge and basic principles of good nutrition and CACFP* Cooking 3 years in a Child Development Center (Preferred)Other requirements:Fingerprint Clearance (DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse)* CPR/First Aid Certification (current)* TB Test clearance (current)* Current Immunization Record* Must pass a health screening* Valid CA driver's license* Current automobile insurance* Reliable vehicle* Bilingual* Excellent written and verbal skillsDuties and responsibilities* Organize, prepare and serve the meals to the children and staff. *Supervise, operate and maintain the culinary equipment, supplies and work area. * Make sure that all meals are prepared on time and in sufficient amounts for all children and staff. *Record number of children and adults served at each sitting and amount of food prepared. * Prepare Menu Record Sheets each morning to help prepare an adequate amount of food for children and staff. *Keep the kitchen, food preparation areas and all eating supplies clean and sanitary. Adhere to guidelines of food sanitation and safe food handling practices set by the Public Health Department. * Maintain inventory of pantry stock and order food necessary to serve complete meals to children and provide requirements set by the CACFP. *Rotate stock as necessary and make sure foods are used in a timely manner, use the "FIFO" method, first in, first out. What comes in first will be used first when preparing food. * Review menus each month and confirm that they adhere to the requirements set by the CACFP and document changes accordingly. *Responsible for receiving, dating, and storing all food purchased by the center. * Responsible for carrying out specific instructions in preparing meals according to established menus. This includes receiving training in quantity cooking, preparing food supplies, cooking meals according to established methods, preparing quantities of food for distribution to classrooms to meet mealtime schedules, ensuring that supplies are not wasted and are used for approved purposes. *Properly cleans and sanitizes cooking utensils, kitchen appliances, kitchen work area, and food storage areas. * Takes inventory of food supplies and prepares food and supply requisition lists under the guidance of the supervisor or food program manager.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job the individual must be able to carry out all essential functions* Uphold Joys children's Learning Center standards, policies and procedures, and professional code of ethics.* Able to lift 50 pounds from floor to a waist-high table when necessary.* Able to handle stressful situations.* Able to work without direct supervision* Ability to stand for long periods of time.Job Type: Full-timePay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hourBenefits:* 401(k)* Paid sick timeExperience:* Restaurant experience: 3 years (Required)* working in a child care center: 1 year (Required)* CACFP: 1 year (Required)Shift availability:* Day Shift (Required)Ability to Commute:* La Puente, CA 91744 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* La Puente, CA 91744: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
