Job Description

*Job Overview*Purpose of PositionSupports the die shop with the cleaning and polishing of extrusion dies.Responsibilities· Examine dies for surface flaws, scratches, or defects that may impact the dimension or the quality of extrusion.· Utilize grinders, sanders, buffing wheels, and hand tools to polish and refine the surfaces of dies to achieve the necessary surface quality and dimensions.· Clean dies and remove aluminum or other material buildup to preserve their condition and extend their lifespan after use.· Help with the caustic and nitriding processes for dies as required.· Reports any issues related to die tooling or maintenance to the Die Shop Manager.· Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent.· Maintains a clean and organized work area.· Follows all safety policies, procedures, and practices; promptly reports unsafe conditions to the Die Shop Manager or the Safety Department.· Maintains reliable and punctual attendance.· Other duties may be assigned as needed.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualificationsTo succeed in this role, the individual must be able to effectively carry out each essential responsibility. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to individuals with disabilities to support the performance of essential job functions.Class 1· Ability to inspect samples against shape prints.· Ensure bearings are flat and square.· Knowledge of safety protocols when handling caustic soda.· Identify and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.· Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.· Knowledge of safety policies and procedures for the press, die shop, and die cleaning operations.· Consistently demonstrate punctual attendance.Class 2· Provide effective training and mentorship to prospective employees for the Die Polisher position.· Identify and report tooling non-conformities and related issues.Education and/or ExperienceGeneral education degree (GED) and/or 6 months of relevant experience is required.Training· New Employee Orientation· QMS Training & Annual QMS Refresher· KP-3 Extrusion· KP-4 Quality ControlLanguage SkillsAbility to read and understand basic instructions, and to communicate information effectively in one-on-one or small group settings. Capable of interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical operations—including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
