Machinist Lead

*Summary:*The Machining Lead is a key contributor to our production team, responsible for driving daily output while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong mechanical skills, active involvement on the shop floor, and the ability to guide and support a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.*Responsibilities:** Perform safety audits in conjunction with established Safety Protocol.* Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain machining equipment.* Provide day-to-day technical advice, problem solving, and support operations and maintenance.* Supervise production staffing and scheduling.* Establish the team’s daily schedule to maximize productivity while adhering to quality standards.* Communicate and collaborate effectively with Anodizing and Assembly supervisors.* Send daily production figures to the manager.* Ensure finished goods meet established quality control protocols.* Record and resolve quality control issues; develop and communicate resolutions to team members.* Perform maintenance in alignment with the established maintenance schedule.* Create and maintain accurate inventory of consumables, chemicals, tooling, PPE gear, etc.* Proactively seek alternate external resources, including vendors and materials.* Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors.* Train and mentor team members in machining processes.* Develop and implement new SOPs.* Assist the maintenance department in creating and improving preventive maintenance tasks.* Complete incident reports as needed.* Lead visitor tours in the Machining department.*Must Haves:** Advanced understanding of machining processes and equipment.* Advanced understanding of material handling.* ABH certification for forklift driving.* Superior organizational skills.* Willingness to work on the shop floor and lead by example.*Education and Experience:** Minimum of 3 years in Operations, Engineering, or related field in Manufacturing.* Proven experience in leading and managing teams in a hands-on production environment.* Efficient and proficient in Lean Manufacturing practices.* Experience developing, reviewing, and approving new SOPs.*Physical Demands:** Must be able to lift 60 lbs.* Standing and working on the shop floor for the entire shift.* Manual dexterity and attention to detail.Job Type: Full-timePay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Profit sharing* Vision insuranceExperience:* Machine operation: 3 years (Required)Language:* Spanish (Required)* English (Required)Shift availability:* Day Shift (Required)Ability to Commute:* Itasca, IL 60143 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Itasca, IL 60143: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
