Also eligible for paid holidays, paid sick leave, vacation leave, and participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).Part-Time Security Staff*Work hours will depend on the needs of the department and the employee’s availability*SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESJOB FUNCTION: Under the direct supervision of the Resident Monitor III and the general direction of the Resident Monitor Coordinator, the Resident Monitor I is responsible for all matters relating to: security; employee, resident, and visitor safety; and the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire facility. Directly responsible for ensuring the continual accountability of all assigned residents, and a safe and secure environment that facilitates treatment and rehabilitation. Supervises resident admission/release operations, drug and alcohol testing, visitation, recreation, commissary, laundry procedures, transportation services, and other related duties as required. Facilitates security support for other treatment programs as required. The Resident Monitor I is expected to participate in other facility activities which foster a safe and secure environment that is conducive to the goals and mission of the West Central Community Correctional Facility.FACILITY OPERATIONS*Maintain an environment that is conducive to our agency philosophy and humane living conditions**Enforces Residential Program Rules and Regulations in a firm, fair and consistent manner; and follows appropriate reporting procedures for violations;**Responds to resident needs and conflicts in a preventative fashion so as to reduce volatile situations;**Responsible for handling crisis and emergency situations in program, calling for assistance when needed, and documenting all such incidents per agency policy;**Ensures compliance with facility policies and procedures with regard to the use and storing of all sharp instruments, tools, toxic, corrosive, flammable substances, and other potentially dangerous supplies and equipment;**Supervises facility access and key control per procedure;**Monitors, and documents procedures for the conduct of monthly fire drills, tornado drills, and other emergency situations as required;**Responds in person, when required, to any problems and/or emergencies at the facility in a timely manner, regardless of hour; may have to work overtime;*MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED*High School Graduate; Under Graduate education in Criminal Justice preferred, but not required;**Experience with handling emergencies and potentially dangerous situations; ability to remain cool under pressure; ability to deal with aberrant behavior;**Personally a team player, while having the ability to supervise residents in a therapeutic modality;**Ability to communicate effectively in writing; read, understand and write reports, memos, and policies;**Skills in effective written and oral communications; ability to orally give directions, speak on the telephone, read and write reports;**Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds as required;**Skill in the use of a personal computer and related office software preferred;**Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License.*WORKING CONDITIONSPotential exists for exposure to disease/illness.This is a minimum-security adult facility; therefore, all outside access doors are locked at all times.All the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions subject to reasonable accommodation.
