*DETENTION OFFICERS NEEDED FOR COUNTY JAIL*PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.The duties of a jailer/detention officer are varied. Duties include:* Booking and releasing inmates via computer software.* Conducting security rounds and performing inmate counts.* Performing inmate cell searches.* Performing searches of inmates and visitors.* Conducting continual visual surveillance of inmates and all areas of the detention facility.* Supervising inmate activity, such as recreation, serving meals, visitation, and clothing exchanges.* Operating numerous buttons, switches, and keys used to control automatic doors, hinged doors, sliding doors, and communication systems.* Monitoring and controlling all inmate activity.* Gathering information for investigations by interviewing and obtaining the statements of the victims, witnesses, suspects, and confidential informants.* Preparing logbook entries and writing reports.* Fingerprinting citizens for permits and applications using the LiveScan.* Monitoring inventory and supplies and inspecting security equipment.* Operating telephones, electronic equipment, fingerprint equipment, cameras, and fax machines.* Communicating over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.* Managing interpersonal conflicts to maintain order.* Working with various classifications of pre-trial and post-trial inmatesIf hired, the employee must attend (within six months) a two-week basic jail course which would certify him or her as a Basic Jailer in the state of Georgia.
