Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Extrusion Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining extrusion machinery to produce high-quality aluminum products. This role requires a strong understanding of extrusion processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities· Operate extrusion press equipment in accordance with established procedures.· Understand press operations and aging practices for various alloys and tempers.· Perform tasks such as stretching, sawing, and finishing to ensure product quality.· Review and calculate work orders; analyze raw material requirements to maximize yield.· Inspect products to ensure compliance with Aluminum Association standards and customer specifications.· Operate billet heater, press, cooling systems, and age ovens.· Follow extrusion press schedule; perform setups and die changes as needed.· Assist support personnel in press operations.· Report issues to Press Foreman promptly.· Maintain production records, materials usage, and timekeeping.· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.· Follow all safety policies and report any hazards immediately.· Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.· Perform other duties as assigned.Training Requirements· New Employee Orientation· QMS Training & Annual QMS Refresher· KP-3 Extrusion· KP-4 Quality ControlQualifications and ClassificationsClass 1 – Entry Level· Proficient with measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, hardness testers).· Able to perform basic setups and routine maintenance.· Familiar with customer-specific quality requirements and press safety.· Basic computer proficiency.Class 2 – Intermediate· Meets Class 1 proficiency.· Proficient in navigating and inputting data into EPICS.· Understands standard tolerances.· Able to identify and report material non-conformities.Class 3 – Advanced· Meets Class 1 and 2 proficiency.· Verifies order status, accesses prints, and prints die drawings via EPICS.· Cross-trained in packing department; supports when needed.· Self-motivated and independent.· Fully competent in Press Operator duties.Language SkillsAbility to read and understand basic instructions. Effective communication in one-on-one or small group settings. Ability to interpret safety rules and procedural documents.Mathematical SkillsPerform basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Calculate rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.Computer SkillsAbility to perform standard computer operations. Familiarity with internal production software systems, specifically EPICS.Physical DemandsActivities include standing, walking, sitting, handling materials, stooping, hearing, and lifting. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentExposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, outdoor conditions, high temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
